RE: Yellowstone or Glacier/Which has MORE WILDLIFE?

The Hidden Lake trail from the Logan Pass visitor center will almost guarantee you a mountain goat encounter. The Red Rock Canyon area in Waterton (Canadian side-need passport) usually has big horn sheep. Bears are hit or miss but I've seen several in the high country around Logan Pass. About thirty years ago a saw a blond grizzly from a distance near Middle Two Medicine Lake.
Good luck on your trip.

RE: Yellowstone or Glacier/Which has MORE WILDLIFE?

I know this is a loaded question -- just throwing in my 2 cents.
We're into hiking and have been to both parks multiple times. We found that Yellowstone, at least the times we were there, had more VISIBLE wildlife. That is, just by driving we saw herds of bison and elk along with the occasional moose.
We have a standing joke that even though we've hiked close to 5000 miles in parks over the past 30 years, we see more wildlife from the car than hiking in the backcountry. We have seen more bear in Glacier, however, both black and griz. We've encountered them on the trails too in Glacier --- didn't see them in Yellowstone.
But, as a hiking park, we much prefer Glacier...........
Thank you for he input. I was glad to hear that, because we plan on short hikes through the back country. We love to photograph wildlife, so we are truly looking forward to Glacier. Thank you again for your information.

RE: Yellowstone or Glacier/Which has MORE WILDLIFE?

I just want to thank everyone for their input. As for the one responder, I meant to see different animals in Glacier N.P. Someone said Hidden lake and I heard that place once before, so it seems like I must check it out with the family.
Thank you all for the input. Its a pleasure coming to this site and what a great resource.
God Bless

RE: Montana ghost town tour...

We’ve changed our trip plans. We were in Moab Utah four years ago. We love it there, and have made the ‘’pilgrimage’’ to Delicate Arch in Arches N.P. four times now, but kind of decided to see something else instead. By the way, I think they’re lying on that trailhead sign that says ‘’Delicate Arch – 1.5 miles’’ because it feels like 5.5 miles!
So… after reading about Butte Montana in Motorhome magazine, we changed plans and decided on a ‘ghost town tour.’ Now, I have a big circle route that includes the Craters of the Moon in Idaho, an old nuclear plant tour in Arco ID, Jackson Wyoming, the state park/ghost town of Bannack, and also the ghost town of Garnet. I’m not sure how to do the Jackson and/or the Tetons etc. and also Bannack since there isn’t much in between highway 20 and I-15 in the way of large RV roads. (Bannack is west of Dillan, off of I-15) It may just be a back-track down to Idaho Falls and back up I-15.
Naturally, we’ll be in Butte a few days. The Durango will go about anywhere its nose is pointed, so my question is what’s there as to ‘’must-sees’’ around Butte? Dillon? Missoula? Heading into deep back country on 4x4 roads works fine for us. We’re into old mines and metal detecting. Any recommendations as to a good RV park around Jackson WY? Butte MT? There’s a few RV parks in/around Dillon, any place we need to avoid? (We’ll Dodge Durango our way into/out of Bannack)
Another thought I had was staying around Henry Lake while we head into West Yellowstone, (After we leave the Jackson area) then take the coach+toad north to 287 to cut across (catching Virginia City also) on the way to I-15 and somewhat south to Bannack. Anyone know which RV park is worth staying at around Henry Lake?
By the way, my routes avoid the Tetons and Yellowstone with the coach+toad – I’d rather we go into Yellowstone in the toad on day trips.
I had a quick question. Sorry I couldn't help with the questions you had but was wondering whats a good metal detector. My young girls would like to try the hobby and do you recommend certain ghost towns near Bozeman Montana. we are heading to Glacier N.P. in July. Thanks for any input.
Rob
P.S. Going into yellowstone was great with our Toyota FJ. Too much work with large RV's in the park although a Moderate or small Class C has its advantages because you can stay in certain areas for long periods of time with a bathroom availability while looking and exploring the wildlife.

Yellowstone or Glacier/Which has MORE WILDLIFE?

To all my Rv'ers,
I am travelling to Glacier N.P. In July. I went to Yellowstone in September 07. I was told that Glacier has more wildlife than Yellowstone. Is this correct? We like to see and shoot photography of the wild life. Just wanted to be prepared for less than Yellowstone if that's the fact.
Appreciate any input!
Thanks!

Anyone have Information on Water fuel cells ?

Big question for all of you! I am looking for information on water fuel cell conversion kits to run your vehicle on water which converts to hygogen and then inputed into the air intake boosting MPH up to 60%? Has anyone tried this and is there any deleterious affects longterm to the engine?
Did anyone use it now? I am trying to find a person using it other than testimonies of individuals on their websites.?
Appreciate any help ?
Thanks

RE: TV Power / Ignition interlock relay

Does this apply for a Coachman Leperchaun 32 footer? Just wondering if the answer to the interlock relay was universal to all RV's?
Got the same problem.
If anyone knows, let me know!
Much Appreciated!

can you drive a class C in Glacier National Park-Montana?

I am going to Glacier NP. in Montana in July. Can you drive a class C 32 footer RV in the park at all? I have a 32 footer Class C and was told there was a restriction from Logans Pass to a campground. Does this mean only part of the road is restricted and if so, is it worth renting a vehicle just to see the restricted driving area?
Big question for us, please let me know. This site is awesome for support!!

RE: St Mary's KOA/Glacier National Park

We've stayed at St Mary KOA twice, primarily because of its location. Johnson's RV park in St Mary is also good, but somewhat tighter for big rigs. Also, it's on top of the hill, there can be hard winds at times. I prefer the St Mary side, rather that the west side, because it is more convenient to Many Glacier Valley, Two Medicine Valley and Waterton Lakes NP in Canada.
Does St Mary town have food stores or any places to visit with family?ie. Restaurant, ice cream shop gift shop etc.?

RE: St Mary's KOA/Glacier National Park

We stayed at ST.Mary's KOA a few years ago. We rate it high. It is rustic, gravel, but level. Definitely not desolate, but East Glacier is more rugged and in my mind for scenic than West Glacier. Your a short distance from the park entrance. The lodge has an excellent restaurant. College students from around the country serve as staff during the short tourist season. A good place to eat and have some excellent conversations. If you can take a day trip north to Waterton, on the Canadian side of the park. Spectacular. The road to the Sun drive is also a must see. If your without toad, the red buses travel regularly through and around the park. They are a good way to see the scenes. Your going to love it. Happy Trails.
if I have a 31 foot Class C, would I be able to ride along the Going to the Sun Highway?

RE: St Mary's KOA/Glacier National Park

We are leaving Florida July 20th and heading straight to Glacier as we only have 3 weeks. I am not sure how long it will take us so I don't want to make reservations. We would like to stay on the East side at the KOA or Johnsons. Do you think we will be ok without reservations? Thanks.
I planned on 5 days to get there going north on I75 thru Tennessee and then taking 70 across to Denver. Go north in Denver thru Billings and making the fourth night in Billings, Montana before St. Mary's KOA.

St Mary's KOA/Glacier National Park

We are traveling to Glacier N.P. in Montana this July 3rd. Planned on ST. Mary's KOA instead of West Glacier KOA. Are there any RVers that can comment on this. We have a Class C and would like to spend time seeing and photographing Wild life and short Hikes with the kids. How is St. Mary's campground? Any input would be great. thanks
Is it a desolate area which it appears to be?

RE: Looking at a 32' Cachmen LEPRECHAUN ...Any Yeahs or Nays??

We're looking at a 2006 LEPRECHANUN 318DS, with 2 slides, the V-10 Engine on the Ford Chassis. We like the layout and the cabinets. Just wondered if anyone had any "Yeah!s" or "Nay!s" for this vehicle, or the manufacturer. We're new to this, and any help will be appreciated. I haven't seen any recalls (a good thing), but maybe I've missed something.
Happy New Year!!
Bill, Claudia, and the Paps
Just purchased the 2007 and love it so far. Haven't taken it out on a trip yet still learning the in's and out's. Supposively, coachman leprechaun has a good reputation

better route from Glacier N.P. to South Florida

I am returning home from Glacier N.P. and considering going south pass billings, Montana and then to Denver and taking I70 East to St. Louis and Kansas City. Is I70 a pretty decent road. I didn't want to take I90 and have to travel in a six day time frame. Using a 23 footer travel trailer!
Like to get some opinions.
2nd question;
Best cell phone service for traveling to Jasper and Banff, Canada. or is better to buy a pay as you go phone from Walmart? Got sprint and don't think its going to work.
3rd Question: Does any one know of how to get the book that has all the list of Walmarts in the U.S.?
thanks for any help that can be given.

Heading to Florida from Glacier National Park:

I am heading back at the end of July from Glacier National Park in Montana towards Fl. Wanted to know if traveling south through Wyoming and colorado and then head east at Denver was not a bad ride with a 23 footer travel trailer. In 07, took I90 east thru S. Dakota and thought is was really boring that way. will ultimately end up going thru Missouri on the same route.
Help....?

traveling to Edmonton, Jasper, Banff, & Glacier need help?

Hi Everyone,
I am traveling in July to Edmonton and then to Jasper Banf and Glacier National Parks. Is it better to travel across North Dakota and may be Montana before traveling north into Canada or is better to travel north thru North Dakota into Saskatoon and straight to Edmonton? I want to make good time... But isn't the gas cheaper and better traveling through as much U.S. before crossing over ? I heard gas was much more money in Canada. If there is no real waste of time then I would rather travel as much while in U.S. before heading north into Canada. I do want to save time also. Please let me know what the best Idea is . I am traveling with a -Travel trailer doing about 5-600 miles a day. I already traveled to Yellowstone in this September and very excited about next year.
Help????
